Every year Trivago selects, based on over 200 million hotel reviews, the 100 best known cities in the world. 2017 is no exception and this year three Portuguese cities are distinguished in the ranking of the Trivago – Funchal, in the 26th position, Porto in the 46th and Lisbon in the 48th place.
In an assessment made by travelers from all over the world, Funchal is the Portuguese city with the best online reputation. With 84.11 points (out of a possible 100), it reaches the 26th position in the 2017 Reputation Ranking by trivago.
Porto, in 46th place with 83.27 points, and Lisbon, in the 48th with 83.16, also gain entry to the annual list, where European destinations such as London, Amsterdam, Paris or Barcelona were off the list of excellence.
Göreme, Turkey, and Matera, Italy, won the first and second places for the second consecutive year. Rust, in Germany, reaches the third position of the world podium for the first time.
Göreme, known for its imposing rock formations and idyllic hot air balloon trips, won the first place with an average of 86.82. With 86.72, Matera, Unesco World Heritage in 1993 and considered a true treasure in the South of Italy, secures the second position in the ranking. Finally, Rust, Germany, known for the Europa Park theme park – Europe’s second most famous park – is the destination that closes the podium with a price of 86.47.
